Welcome to the Portsmouth Buddhist Sangha

The Portsmouth Community of Mindfulness, also known as the Buddhist Sangha at South Church, is a Sangha (community of practice) in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village.

We meet every Thursday at 7pm at Karnan House, 206 Court Street (in Portsmouth. behind South Church) to support our practice of meditation and mindfulness.

All are welcome, beginner or advanced practitioners alike, to create peace in ourselves and in the world.
Each Thursday we begin with sitting meditation, including instruction for beginners/newcomers, followed by a, short program and sharing.

Thursday, February 23 at 7pm:  The Dalai Lama’s Cat (Chapter 3, part II)

Note – In the 2017 winter sessions we will be reading The Dalai Lama’s Cat, looking at Dharma lessons to apply in our own practice and lives weekly.  Copies of the book are always available.

We also offer classes on Buddhism, meditation, and mindfulness at the Portsmouth Library and other venues, as well as Days of Mindfulness.

The Four Immeasurables

May all beings enjoy happiness and the root of happiness.
May we be free from suffering and the root of suffering.
May we not be separated from the great happiness that is devoid of suffering.
May we dwell in the great equanimity, free from passion, aggression and prejudice.
